History:
Sir Richard Grosvenor
In 1710, Sir Richard Grosvenor was granted a licence which allowed him to create London’s most fashionable address, which has been home to aristocracy and the world’s elite ever since.
Timeline
1700s
Sir Richard Grosvenor obtains a licence to develop Grosvenor Square in 1710. Lord North, Prime Minister during the American Revolutionary War, and two future PMs, Lords Rockingham and Grafton, take up residence. The Square would remain a locus of domestic power for the next 150 years.

1800s
News of Wellington’s victory over Napoleon (1815) was delivered to War Secretary the Earl of Bathurst at number 4, where he was dining with the British Cabinet. In 1887, numbers 18-21 pass into diplomatic use.
Early
1900s
During the Second World War, Dwight D. Eisenhower requisitions Number 20 as a military headquarters where it serves as home of the US Navy Forces in Europe (1939-2007).

1900s
A post-war mood of egalitarianism was reflected in a new kind of aristocracy, as entertainers moved into the area. Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow spent their 1966 honeymoon and much time thereafter in a rented flat in Grosvenor Square.
2000s

Grosvenor Square
In 2007, the United States Government sells 20 Grosvenor Square to a consortium of private investors. Ownership of the building is sold again in 2013 to Grosvenor Square Limited, which appoints Finchatton as Development Co-ordinator.
